Hood on!

That is what Lumi says when she wants to wear her hood up. With a bib, it has an especially comical effect.

Lumi's 26th Month

Events
17/3 - dinner party, with 2 other toddlers
22/3 - spanish school party
23/3 - trip to mountains to play in the snow and swim
30/3 - shopping for big girl sheets and blanket, thus transition to toddler bed.
31/3 - easter sunday, complete with hunting easter eggs. lumi loved it!
2/4 - first dentist visit. when the 'teeth counting' time came, she clung to me like a baby monkey, but eventually let the dentist get in there. then the dentist showed her how to brush and said we can start using kids toothpaste.

Food
she is eating well lately. she will happily eat most things that we are eating, even if they are a little spicy. she still loves milk, beans, cheese, and olives. She can make requests, but usually she isn't that proactive unless cookies are involved. She loves the broth in soup, but calls that part "soup".

Language
some favorite word mix ups:
orange = "ornange"
gorilla = "gogilla"
Her language is getting gradually more complex. She mostly talks in phrases, and can repeat almost anything (especially in the morning; her mind seems sharper then).
I taught her to say "muscle tee" instead of tank top, and it's great to hear her request to put on a muscle tee.
27/3 I heard her use the verb "to have" correctly, when she wasn't just repeating.

Learning
she knows a lot of animal names. She is getting more skilled with puzzle pieces and trying to make them fit. She is also drawing lots of lines/circles/whatever on a piece of paper, and then carefully going back and filling in any gaps. the end result is a paper that is mostly all one color, and heavy with marker ink.

Behavior
when she is unhappy, she deliberately misbehaves. it's usually nothing serious -- just grabbing something we told her not to touch, or throwing something we told her not to throw. but you can tell that she is doing it just as a demonstration of unhappiness and not just because she forgot.
she also gets excited and throws stuff, and it's hard to be mad when she does it because she is clearly just happy and wants to exert herself physically.
We have been seeing a lot of resistance to changing clothes. once they are on, she is fine. but the process is awful (for her, and consequently for us).

Toys/Books/Games
favorite toys: dolls, stroller, and she loves puzzles. she loves to throw the beach ball globe ball that grandma sent for her birthday. we spent part of grandpa and mama dollie's birthday money on a doctor set, and she has been administering 'medicine' to everyone and also listening to our heartbeats.
books: she is starting to appreciate a little story, though she mostly likes looking at interesting pictures and finding little things in them.

Health
At the beginning of the month, she had a little cold. She was deemed "small, but proportionate" by the doctor. High fever on 30/3, but with lots of rest of 31/3 she seems to be feeling better. However, it has spread to the whole family so we're all a little miserable right now.

Stats
clothes: 2T in US, 98 in European
height - 84cm
weight - 11 kg
teeth - 16
naps - one at midday.

Random Funny Stuff
14/3: when we got off the bus to go to daycare, i asked her if she wanted to run to the bridge and she said yes and took off, and then promptly fell on the ice. but she used the word 'slipped', which i was impressed that she remembered. she said "lumi slip". and then when she did it again (there was lots of ice) she said it again.
