Lumi's 29th Month

Events
3/6: Prague flooding!
4/6: Villa Luna is closed due to the floods, so Eva the nanny came.
5/6 - 7/6: Villa Luna still closed, so they had 8:00 - 4:30 at matej's house. Lumi loved it there, especially the trampoline.
15/6 - 22/6: trip to Alsace, sharing gîte with Grandpa and Mama Dollie (or just "Dollie" to Lumi) and Tom.
29/6: trimming of the baby mullet

Food
Milk in the morning (sometimes juice), big lunch, but light dinner. We broke down and gave her some animal crackers (the special baby ones) and now she is an addict.

Language
Lumi is starting to realize consciously that different people say different words for things. For example, on 4/6 - Lumi had Kartsa on her shoulders and said "Isä says 'olkapää' and äiti says 'shoulders' and Lumi says 'olkapää' and 'shoulders'.

Learning
Lumi is counting a lot, but with mixed success. She currently prefers counting in Spanish. Her conversation skills are blossoming every day, and she is getting good at expressing herself and letting us know what she needs and wants.

Behavior
Lumi is still acting up a bit when Isä is traveling, but we're trying to institute a daily Skype session after bath and before bed, and that seems to help. Her reactions are more extreme now when she is unhappy. A seemingly minor setback often results in desperate crying and screaming and rolling on the floor. Bedtime is recently a big battle, with countless pop-ups where we have to bring her back to bed. Sometimes in the middle of the night she will violently resist our requests to use the potty. That said, Lumi can also be charming as hell and lots of fun right now.

Toys/Books/Games
Lumi has discovered the joy of watching TV. She loves Krtek and Peppa Pig. She likes putting her bear to sleep and rocking it, and often requests "rock-a-bye baby", which she calls "when the wind blows".

Health
It has been a pretty healthy month, thank goodness.

Stats
clothes: 2T in US, 98 in European
height - 87 cm
weight - ?
teeth - 19
naps - one at midday.

Random Funny Stuff
When dancing with Äiti on 9/6, Lumi shouted at Kimmo "Isä, get up and shake your peppu!" We had a great time on our trip to Alsace. We were staying on a farm, and there were animals all around. Lumi fed carrots to the donkeys and bread to the house goat, who goes by the name of Heidi. One of the highlights for Lumi was going to La Montagne des Singes (Monkey Mountain), where she got to feed popcorn to macaque monkeys. Lumi was very well-behaved on the long car rides and she really enjoyed visiting with Grandpa and Mama Dollie. She took a liking to Grandpa's cane and after he let her play with it a couple of times, she often tried to take it from him, insisting that "grandpa no need it". There was a swing set, and she loved to be pushed in the swing. She ate a lot of cheese and prosciutto.

Mother of the Year

In my head: "She has to lean over pretty far to put her finger under the stream of water. She's not going to tip over into the fountain marked 'non potable', is she? No, of course not. And she's having a great time!"
After the tip, the splash, the cry, the removal of wet clothes, and the donning of the only dry shirt we had with us:
Her mood was rebuoyed upon experiencing the joy of wearing Isä's shirt.

Vitkov Hill

This weekend we visited a Prague landmark: Vitkov Hill. I wanted to see the statue of Jan Žižka (allegedly the largest equestrian statue in the world). Unfortunately, there was some military event there at the time, and they blocked us from getting close to the statue. But it was a nice outing with a considerable workout built-in, as we had to push the stroller up the hill.
And a nice walk back down the hill:
