21/12 - 6/1 trip to Asia.
13/1 - 17/1 - Isä away traveling
27/1 - swimming
31/1 - parent-teacher meeting at Villa Luna
2/2 - zoo
3/2 - second birthday! presents included books, puzzles, and legos. we went to brunch at el asador with some friends.
7/1 - started nighttime potty training.
9/1 - first dry night!
14/1 - bed in the crib, then woke her up for big pee at 22:45, then dry all night.
She was doing great in the daytime with rare accidents, then we had a bit of a regression last weekend. the latest theory is that they probably go at set times at school, and the schedule is pretty rigid enough that both they and lumi know when she will pee. then on the weekend we had a very different schedule and she had forgotten how to recognize the feeling of needing to pee. thus far the wake-at-night-to-pee strategy has been working great.
nursing is erratic. sometimes she will request it, and then when i sit on the sofa and get ready, she stands about 150cm away and giggles at me. maybe this is baby's first prank.
1/2 - last nursing?
Loves milk, naksu, eggs, cashews, chocolate.
Morning means a sippy cup of milk, and then often either eggs and rice (fried together, as per sarah wheatley) or a boiled egg.
says 'saappaap' instead of 'saappaat' (translation: 'boots')
She loves to point a camera at people and say "mai-la!" (translation: "smile!")
She often responds to a question with a 'yeah!', even if it isn't a yes/no thing. Example: "where is your train?" "yeah!". It's kind of drawn out, like she is affirming that it is a good question, like a "yeah, where is that train?"
She still has the unfortunate habit (developed by grandpa in november) of answering "what color is this?" every time with "blue!".
She can count pretty consistent from 1 to 10 and a little beyond in English. Often she gets to 11 and I guess it sounds like 7 because she follows it with 8 (e.g. "6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 8, 9, 10!").
7/1 - Lumi slept the whole night in her toddler bed, but äiti slept with her.
13/1 - She is having a good week with not a lot of resistance toward putting on clothes.
She is generally cheerful and helpful and cooperative when she is well-rested, and when we explain to her what is going on and what she can expect.
Lumi started to sing 'Puff the Magic Dragon'. It sounds like of like "Pup! Draaaagooon..by...sea. Rolicked..mist! ...onalee!".
She likes to hear 'Llama Llama Nighty-Night' before bed, and still enjoys the Nutshell Library books by Maurice Sendak.
She likes to play "good night - good morning" where she tucks herself into bed and puts her head on the pillow and say 'good night!' then closes her eyes. then she opens her eyes and sits up and says cheerily 'good morning!'. repeat 10 times.
Lumi managed to not get sick on our Asia trip. She had some strangely puffy eyes on 28/1, and it looks like pink eye. we think she got it at the swimming pool. we are trying the same medication we used for her pink eye last winter.
clothes: size 92
height -
weight - 11 kilos
teeth - 13
naps - once a day in afternoon
lumi likes to bring our shoes to us when we're getting ready.
When we're driving or on a bus and we go under an overpass, Lumi shouts "tunnel!". This can be startling for other passengers on the bus.
She has been pretending to call on "phones" (often remotes) and saying "hello! Yeah yeah yeah yeah bye-bye!".
And a happy birthday to the little gal - she is cuter and cuter every time I see her!!! Great parenting, Aiti and Isa!!!
