Summary
This month has been mostly Christmas preparation and celebration of Finland's centennial.
Learning/Development
He is interested in words, and clearly working toward reading like Lumi. We are trying to give him information but also not pressure him at all.
Language
He does not always switch back and forth between English and Finnish easily, but he can still maintain an English-only conversation with äiti if no one else is around. I am trying to remember to give him the English words for things he discusses, even when he doesn't ask.
Toys/Games/Other
Favorites: card games, board games, legos, cars, puzzles
He likes for us to draw numbers/letters on his back so he can guess them.
He goes to perhesähly every Sunday and loves it.
At the päiväkoti performance for the Centennial, he did not want to sing at all.
Social
He adores his best friend, though he is enjoying other peers more and more. He has asked that some other kids come and visit, and at the Suomi 100 party, he had so much fun with August that he didn't want to leave.
He is getting comfortable talking to people he doesn't know. He did well at Thanksgiving (even tolerating the seemingly purpose-less destruction of some of his Lego constructions), and at the doctor appointment he chatted her up.
Eating
When Eeli was visiting, he said he didn't like peas, and left his on the plate. So Otso refused his too. Then after Eeli left, he came back and wolfed them down, straight out of the serving bowl.
Watermelon, ice cream, and eggs are still the favorites.
Sleeping
He usually wants us to stay in his bedroom while he tries to go to sleep at night, but it can easily take 30 minutes or more.
Health
At the doctor visit on 28.11, he got a clean bill of health. The doctor said he is doing really well, and will not need to come back until he is in school.
